A beautiful wedding…
On Friday, we witnessed two friends be married. The groom has been a friend of Adam & I for many many years. First at college, then the three of us were roomates for a few years — and he’s seen us through a lot. He’s one of those people that puts family & friends first, no matter what. He’s an important part of our family — he’s also Alexandre’s godfather, and one Alexandre’s middle name. He has found an amazing person to share his life with. Jess is great — and more importantly, she loves our kids sooo much, so honestly. From their first meeting – at which uncle Troy gifted them their christmas gift that consisted of BOOKS and Jess agreed to read every-single-one-of-them to them, they knew she was a keeper, and so did we.
The kids did sooooo well at the wedding. So well. Elizabeth loved hanging with the girls ‘without mama’ and Alexandre smiled throughout the photos, not ONCE complaining. We had prepped him for this so much since he doesn’t like having his photo taken — some photos are ‘too much’ smile as you can see, but normally he turns away from the camera which is worse. At one point I said ‘you did so well for the photos, do you think you like having your photo taken now?’ and he said ‘no maman, I had to do it for uncle troy!’ he walked down the aisle perfectly… followed by Elizabeth who froze slightly and forgot to drop her petals — and she’s still talking about it… but we’ve assured her that it didn’t matter. The ceremony had been practiced outside, and I think she froze because it wasn’t what she was expecting — but it all worked out perfectly. Juliette also did fabulous — she went from friend to friend for a while so I got a bit of a break (and got to take about 4 photos without her in a baby carrier reaching for my camera! haha)
The girls dresses were perfect — worked out beautifully. The sweater I knit on overdrive on the other hand… turned out to be completly unnecessary!! but really, October 14th, the odds were way greater that it would be needed than not. And now… she has a lovely white cardigan — I’ll post photos soon.
Between my sister’s beautiful summer wedding in August and this gorgeous fall wedding this week-end — the topic of weddings has been very present in our home… I’m sure it’s not about to disappear. Plus, now Elizabeth has fancy jewelry to play bride with that Jess + Troy gifted her for being flower girl!
