at the Sugar Bush…

These are already nearly two weeks old — where does the time go!

Maple Time!

I love love love Maple Syrup season. love. This year, it was a little odd in that the sugar bush party kind of felt like thanksgiving but instead of pumpkin pie, it was maple syrup pie🙂 and of course it had the wonderful smell of the sap turning into syrup and getting into your every pore. But the ground was dry, full of leaves and we were hard pressed to find snow. The snow that was used for the taffy… from a cooler they collected before it all melted. We had had warm weather, but on this specific day it was cooler… we were wearing winter jackets or many many many layers of spring warmth… It’s crazy to think that last Saturday we were hot wearing shorts + tshirts — and the saturday before we were in winter layers! ahhhh Canada!

We spent a better part of the afternoon going on walks — Alexandre is especially shy when the group gets big — and since it was a family party, the group was big… so he kept asking to go for walks!

The kids LOVED the taffy — Alexandre asked me if they were eating honey on a stick!

My mom made the pies for the party…

and finally….. a photograph of where I come from, litterally. Standing in a field on the farm my mom grew up on… while the farm you see in the photo is my dad’s farm (the one he grew up on and still runs)
